Downies is an old small picturesque fishing village nestled in the North East of Scotland which has a mixture of traditional fishing cottages and some more modern houses.
It is located approx 1 mile from Portlethen which boasts four shopping areas: Portlethen retail park, which includes Asda, superstore, home base, Argos and Matalan: The green; Muirend court and Rowan bank court. There is also a variety of restaurants and bars in the town, as well as Portlethen golf club which has a bar open to the public.
Local Amenities
There is also an excellent range of amenities including; tennis courts, bowling green, swimming pool, internet cafe and public libary. In addition there are 2 main parks in the area - Boutree park and Nicol Park. Nicol Park has a skate park and two basketball courts. Boutreepark has a football pitch, swings and climbing frames.
Downies is only a short 10 minute Drive to Aberdeen by car and there are excellent public transport links available at Portlethen.
